Tan Care

HOW TO PREP AND MAINTAIN

Proper prep and aftercare are the backbone of any beautiful and long lasting spray tan. A sunless tan can last anywhere from 5-12 days, follow these instructions to get the most out of your tan.

PREP.

  • Schedule all hair removal (waxing, shaving), massage, nail salon and spa services at least 24 hours prior.

  • Exfoliate from head to toe, concentrating on the drier areas (knees, elbows, ankles & hands), this will ensure an even application.

  • Make sure there is no remaining spray and/or sunless tan on your skin, old tan will cause uneven fading.

  • Avoid sunburns, any peeling during the life of your tan will cause uneven fading.

  • Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water and moisturize daily.

DAY OF.

Leave at least a 4 hour window between showering and your session. Avoid shaving creams, heavy soaps and body washes (dove products especially) as this may leave a film.
Avoid lotions, deodorants, makeup & oils.
You may go completely nude or in whatever you are most comfortable. Darker garments are recommended due to the bronzer in the solution.
Bring loose fitting dark clothing for afterwards. Sweats a T-shirt and sandals are perfect. Leggings, jeans and underwire bras may cause uneven results. the bronzer may transfer to lighter colored clothing. If you are sleeping in your tan wear long sleeves and pants as to avoid skin to skin transfer.
DO NOT get wet or sweat before your first rinse, this may cause uneven results.

AFTERCARE.

Now that your tan is fully developed you will want to be easy with your skin. The tan develops on the outermost layer of dead skin cells so anything that will shed skin will also shed your tan. Moisturizing is KEY, doing so twice a day is ideal. To extend the life of your tan you may use a self tanner, mousses or gradual self tanning lotions works best. When you are ready to say goodbye to your tan use an exfoliating glove to remove the remaining color.

THINGS TO AVOID.

  • Mineral oil, heavy oils (coconut oil is good)

  • Products with high concentration of alcohol, fragrances, colorants and parabens. The more gentle the better.

  • Dove products

  • Aerosol sunscreens, bug sprays and perfumes directly on skin. Spray a mist and walk through.

  • Chlorine from hot tubes, pools. Do not soak!

  • Excessive sweating. Working out is fine but high friction from sports bras may cause premature fading.

  • Chemical exfoliant such as Retin-A, AHA’s, BHA’s and salicylic acid.

  • Shaving cream. If you must shave use a fresh razor and a gentle body wash.
